A little bit about Joseph Grech

I’m Joseph, founder of Smarter Learning Ltd: a coaching and training consultancy. Supporting and developing people achieve their goals has always been a big part of my life and nowadays I support people and organisations achieve their true potential.

Growing up I was very interested in psychology, particularly the link between behaviours and emotions. I am intrigued by why we feel what we feel and the relationship between our thoughts and our feelings. I focused my research study for my Bachelors Degree on the impact of shame on personality development, and continued to investigate human behaviour for my Masters, where I looked at the impact of organisational climate on employee behaviour and performance.

This led me to working within Learning and Development where I spent the majority of my career as a Training Manager and Head of L&D for a number of organisations. This is where I found my love for coaching as during my training sessions I valued the collaborative contribution that this developmental relationship brought to the individuals (rather than just viewing training as an opportunity where I could share my expertise). I researched more about coaching, became  ICF accredited and now freelance as an executive and career coach whilst working on L&D consultancy and training projects.
